Magnesium is an alkaline-earth metal and is the eighth-most abundant element in the Earth’s crust. Magnesium has an atomic weight of 24.3050, melting point of 651℃, boiling point of 1107℃ and density of 1.74g/cm³. Magnesium is an active metal, it is insoluble in water or alcohol. It only dissolves in acids. It readily ignites when heated in air, and burns with a bright, dazzling white flame.
