Cobalt chrome alloys are quite hard to machine. The hardness of CoCr alloys varies ranging 550-800 MPa, and tensile strength varies ranging 145-270 MPa. CoCr also has excellent mechanical properties including increased hardness and tensile strength. CoCr is also a very popular alternative metal used by jewelers for its beautiful luster. It also has good magnetic properties，Cobalt-Chromium-Tantalum (Co-Cr-Ta) used to be the important material for perpendicular magnetic recording films.
