Rhenium is silvery white in appearance and has a metallic lustre. It has the atomic number of 75, atomic weight of 186.207, melting point of 3180℃, boiling point of 5900℃, and density of 21.04g/cm³. Rhenium has one of the highest melting points of all metals. It’s melting point of 3180°C is exceeded only by that of tungsten and carbon. It demonstrates great stability, wear and corrosion resistance.
Rhenium could be used in high-temperature superalloys for manufacturing jet engine parts. It could also be used as rocket thrusters for small satellites, electrical contact material, thermistors, gas turbine engines, high temperature thermocouples and other fields or industries.
